K9 Web Protection is open-source software. The source code is available on GitHub and is free for personal and community use. You may inspect, fork, and build the software subject to the license terms in the repository.
Redistribution of modified versions must clearly indicate they are not the official release and must not misrepresent the original author.
2. No Warranty
K9 Web Protection is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. This includes but is not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
The software is a content filtering tool — it is not a guarantee of complete protection. No filter is 100% effective. Users remain responsible for their own online safety and that of their family members.
3. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Khaleel Ahmad be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of or inability to use this software, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use K9 Web Protection only for lawful purposes. Specifically, you agree not to:
- Use the software to monitor or restrict another adult's internet access without their knowledge or consent
- Distribute modified versions that misrepresent the software's origin or purpose
- Use the software in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law
5. System Modifications
K9 Web Protection modifies system-level settings including /etc/hosts and the macOS system proxy. You install and use the software at your own risk. Always ensure you have a way to recover your system settings if needed. Recovery instructions are available in the GitHub repository.
6. Code Signing
Releases of K9 Web Protection are signed by Khaleel Ahmad. Free code signing infrastructure is provided by SignPath Foundation. The signing certificate is issued by Certum. Verify the publisher identity before installing any software.
7. Changes
These terms may be updated at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the software or website after changes constitutes acceptance.
